PM supports kangaroo court for Hicks

The Prime Minister's happiness with the impending appearance of David Hicks in a US military kangaroo court will not be shared by many Australians, Greens Leader Bob Brown said today.

"David Hicks should be brought home immediately and John Howard has said he could make that happen. The court is illegitimate, the handling of Hicks has been illegal and the Prime Minister's connivance with the Bush administration has been against Australia's interests and dignity," Senator Brown said.

"The Prime Minister is planning a political outcome involving Hicks being charged, condemned to prison and then brought home to serve that sentence. John Howard is taking the sense of fair play for granted if he thinks it ill be as simple as that. It won't," Senator Brown said.
